Wall Drawing 797 by Sol LeWitt

The first drafter has a black marker and makes an irregular horizontal line near the top of the wall. Then the second drafter tries to copy it (without touching it) using a red marker. The third drafter does the same, using a yellow marker. The fourth drafter does the same using a blue marker. Then the second drafter followed by the third and fourth copies the last line drawn until the bottom of the wall is reached.

Creative duo Lars Marcus Vedeler and Theo Tveterås of Oslo, Norway have created a sculpture using the win screen in the online version of Solitarie. [Colossal]

There’s something marvelous in seeing an online-only experience being realized IRL. I can imagine this working well in a casino setting.

Brooklyn based artist Julia Chiang uses a wide variety of materials in her sculpture and installation based work, including nostalgic and sweet ring pops. The colorful candy has been used by Chiang in a number of works often employed as pixels spelling out words. The candy jewels atop the rings melts over time under gallery lights and slowly drips down the walls.

Every once in a while I like to look back and observe the evolution of a site’s design. Yesterday, I went to Gucci.com, a site I’ve used twice before in previous work. This sketch contrasts three abstractions of the home page from 2005, 2007, and now 2011. Not only does this depict basic changes in Gucci’s design approach over the years, but it also reflects changes in my own approach to abstracting a site.

Photo

Photo

Someone’s got neckwear on the brain.
