So I have this piece of code that searches twitter for the words “red”, “blue”, “green”, and “yellow” and then creates bars of those colors in real-time. Normally, yellow is by far the least frequent color to show up, but during yesterday’s World Cup final, it had quite a presence thanks to the high number of cards awarded. I thought this was a nice image, appropriate for the penalty-laden match. Now if only I had an image of an octopus…
Ellsworth Kelly Hacked My Twitter (#workofart Edition)
The image above is a screenshot from my online piece Ellsworth Kelly Hacked My Twitter, taken during the closing minutes of Bravo’s new series, Work of Art. Each square represents someone I follow on Twitter, and with #workofart dominating the feed, I thought it would make for an interesting image.
Notable color contributions:
pink – @bhoggard
grays – @manbartlett (lighter), @hragv (darker)
flesh tones – @artfagcity (browner), @HeartAsArena (pinker)
the dark “exclamation point” at left is courtesy @cmonstah
the lone bright blue square at bottom right – @hyperallergic
The colors are extrapolated from each user’s Twitter avatar.
